HOW TO USE AN OMRON Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor
Sit quietly for 5 minutes and relax. Do not cross your legs.
Remove your coat or jumper if necessary to expose bare upper-arm. It is not necessary to remove a shirt/blouse as the monitor can detect BP through thin clothing. Avoid rolling sleeves up as this can constrict the arm.
Place the cuff directly on your left arm upper arm. Make sure to align the bottom of the cuff approximately ½ inch/2.5 cm above the elbow crease.
Close the cuff comfortably without it being too tight. Place your finger between the arm and the bottom of the cuff to allow for space. Place your elbow on a table so the cuff is level with your heart and your left palm.
Sit straight, don’t not move and talk during the measurement.
Press START/STOP button once to switch on the monitor. The cuff will inflate and then slowly deflate. Make a note of the measurement and the pulse rate.
Press START/STOP button to turn off the monitor.
Make sure to take measurements at the same time each day.
Caution: Do not measure within 30 minutes of eating, exercising, bathing, smoking or drinking alcohol.
